A Sta. Rita Hills Pioneer
Alma Rosa was founded in 2005 by Richard Sanford, the first person to plant Pinot Noir in the Sta. Rita Hills back in 1971. The winery built its name on organically farmed, cool-climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from its estate vineyards.
The estate's El Jabali and La Encantada vineyards sit on the slopes of the Sta. Rita Hills, both certified organic. The downtown Solvang tasting room brings those estate wines into the heart of the Santa Ynez Valley.
What you'll taste
Tastings pour estate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the certified-organic Sta. Rita Hills vineyards, with vineyard hikes and tastings offered at the estate. Walk-ins are welcome and reservations are recommended.
Worth knowing: Founder Richard Sanford planted the first Pinot Noir in the Sta. Rita Hills in 1971, pioneering what became one of California's premier cool-climate AVAs.
